Dogs and Potatoes

My son is obviously a true chef. The story is a little more interesting. My sisters beautiful, little (Yeah Right), German Shepherd puppy (even though she is bigger than my 10 year old son, we still have to call her a puppy because she is only 1 year old) got into our lunch while we were eating. She came to the table and we could all see her licking her lips, real satisfied with herself. We pried her mouth open to make sure she hadn’t eaten the chocolate chip cookies my son had made for dessert (for those of you who do not know, chocolate is deadly for dogs). We pried her mouth open and found the inside of her gums lined with a white paste-like substance. No one could figure out what is was, no one except my son of course. I was astounded he could figure it out. The dog had eaten mashed potatoes. He had made shepherds pie for lunch. He had made extra mashed potatoes and the last of the potatoes were sitting in the mixer bowl. It’s kinda fitting don’t you think, the German Shepherd ate the shepherds pie.

Well I thought it was funny. As soon as everybody knew he was right I declared “It takes a real chef to know something like that!” He said it wasn’t exactly the way he wanted to be remembered, but that he would take what he could get.

For more stories like this you can always look at my sons site. It is updated daily so you are sure to see plenty of funny stories and great food. His site is in my sidebar under “sites we like” as cookupfun.com

  1. Damn, very nice website. I actually came across this on Ask Jeeves, and I am really happy I did. I will definately be returning here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just absorbing as much info as I can at the moment.

    Thank You
