How many of you leave your gaming systems on even while you are not playing them? How many of you have children who leave their game systems on while they do other things?
Did you know that gaming systems that are left on continuously can consume up to $160 worth of eletricity each year. That’s about twice as much as the modern refrigerator!
Collectively the systems consume 16 kilowatt hours of power each year.
Senator Robert Menendez is trying to pass his “Green Gaming Act”. That will make it so that most modern gaming systems will have more effecient gaming components and systems that automatically shut down after half an hour to an hour of non-use.
If the act is passed it is estimated to save American consumers $300 billion by 2030.
