 Pregnancy Planning
Having a baby is one of the most exciting times in a mothers’ life. It can also be a very frightening experience. There are all kinds of decisions to make before a baby is born. Planning ahead can take a lot of stress out of the pregnancy / birth process. In this paragraph we will mention only a fraction of them to help you get started.
You can save a lot of money and time if you check on your health benefits prior to the birth experience. For example… Some insurance companies will pay for a private room. However most will only allow a semi private room. You might also want to check with your insurance company ahead of time to see if you need to call within a certain time period after delivery to place the baby on your policy. Another thing that would be of benefit to you is to check into which Pediatricians in your area are covered by your policy. You might also want to check on your benefits at work. There is usually some
maternity leave available. Now a days most companies will work with you in planning a certain amount of time off work while you recover form the birthing process. Each company is different so it is best to be informed early so you can plan ahead for things such as daycare.
Daycare is also important to plan ahead. It will be several months off before you need care for your infant, but there are a lot of questions in that area to be answered. These are just a few: how far is the daycare center from work? Who will be dropping and picking up the child? Do they have after hours in case of traffic tie-ups? Is there an extra cost if you need to be late? What about Holidays, your employer might not give you off the same days that the daycare is closed for holidays. How many adults are there in each age group / per child? Is there a friend or family member that would be suitable and cheaper to watch your child ?Do not be afraid to make yourself a nuisance when it comes to the care of your child. There is never too many questions or a stupid question. Plan ahead and write your questions down. Being prepared is your best asset right now. You might need to check out many daycares before you find one that is right for you and your baby. It's just like when you go to purchase a car, you usually do not settle for the first one you see. You look around until you find exactly what your family needs.
Which brings us to pregnancy and baby products. There is so much research out there about price, safety, and ease of a product. You need to shop around. You might want to check with consumer reports to see the rating of a product. You might also want to focus on the safest car seat and pacifier, while the price or ease of operation might play a factor when purchasing a highchair or stroller. Another good place for product information is checking online. While surfing the web for baby products you can find great deals, cheap prices and even free stuff. Check with e-bay for reduced prices. There is a lot of new baby stuff you can bid on. You can also find great prices on pregnancy test.
Some people got extra stuff for their shower gifts but do not have a gift receipt to return it to the store. Making it a great find for you and them. You want to take advantage of baby gift registry. This offers people the option to buy you something on your wish list and could avoid duplicates at the baby shower.
Finally, it is never too soon to start saving for your child’s college. Many stores now have a program that will put away some savings every time you buy something from their business. The more informed you are, the better your future with your new baby will be.
