Week 12

Your body: Week 12 is the end of the first trimester. Congratulations! If you have had problems with nausea and moodiness, you should be able to get a break. Pregnancy does more than effect you physically, if you've had some odd dreams lately it's completely normal. If you have gained between 3 and 10 pounds, then you are right on schedule. Your uterus now moves above your pubic bone. Some common side effects of pregnancy that you may be experiencing are heartburn and indigestion. Try eating small meals and stay away from fat and greasy foods.

Baby: Your baby’s urinary tract is now working. From this point, a large portion of the amniotic fluid will be the baby’s urine. The vocal cords are complete and the brain has advanced to the stage that it can transmit messages. The brain has also fully formed and the baby can now feel pain. The baby may also start sucking his thumb. Eyelids are covering the eyes and will remain closed until the seventh month to protect the optical nerve fibers.
