Week 26

Your body: When you go see your doctor this week, you can get an ultrasound to see what the sex of your baby is. If you don’t want to know, make sure you tell the ultrasound technician. You might be having odd cravings and its okay to eat what you crave as long as it’s nutritionally complete. You may start to notice a thin, yellowish, sticky breast discharge called colostrums. This is very rich in antibodies that will help keep your baby safe from disease, and it’s the first food your baby will ingest if you are breastfeeding.

Baby: Your baby should now weigh about 2 pounds and is busy growing a bigger brain. The lungs are beginning to make surfactant, which keep the lung tissues from sticking to each other and help protect against infection once baby is born.
